Goodwill reopens Job Connection in downtown Lincoln
Goodwill Industries Serving Southeast Nebraska, Inc. reopened Job Connection in its newly renovated downtown Lincoln location. Job Connection now occupies a larger section of the building and offers new opportunities for clients.
Since 1997, Job Connection has existed to help individuals overcome traditional barriers to employment and find meaningful work. Goodwill’s Employment Specialists provide one-on-one assistance with a variety of services, including resume creation, online applications and computer skills development. Thanks to the funding from Goodwill’s thrift stores, Job Connection is free for client use.
“Our clients appreciate the personalized support they receive at Job Connection,” said Aubry Hoegemeyer, Goodwill’s Employment Services Director. “Many of them return for follow-up visits and refer their friends and family. Before we expanded, there were many days when every computer station was full.”
Once construction was complete, Job Connection reopened with added resources, such as more computers, a small conference room, new desks and waiting areas, while offering the same individualized attention to clients. Goodwill will continue adding features to the space that support its mission, “willing workers employed and community resources maximized.” Job Connection is located at 1731 O Street, open Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
